Taking a few puffs of the beautiful, frosted-looking Gorilla White bud from Pura Vida Cannabis as I watched a documentary about the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 space probes, a welcome, heavy, powerful high took over. The experience was pleasant throughout, and it all began with aesthetically-pleasing bud that looks like it is covered in frozen dew.

The best part of Gorilla White’s high was that it carried zero anxiety. Strong, formidable buds typically offer big effects — and the Gorilla White body high certainly was vivacious — but that euphoria often includes a mind trip or nervous energy. Not with this flower, however, which smells like a dank garden and tastes a bit like popcorn.

Death Star by The Giving Tree

Death Star, a Sensi Star and Sour Diesel cross, maintains the good parts of both parent strains. Blending a pleasant body relaxation and a head high that didn’t go skyward, I found myself humming along to “The Muppet Movie” while planted on my couch.

The high reminded me of walking through the top deck of a slow-moving ferry; my nose was on a gentle roller coaster of slightly sweet earthiness and fresh kettle corn, followed by a lingering light fuel scent reminiscent of a motocross track the day after a race, and then a pungent sniff of roasting, but unseasoned, Portobello mushrooms.

Meraki Gardens’ Alien Rock Candy could be from another world, it’s that spectacular. I was mesmerized by the flowers and their brilliant trichomes that sparkled like diamonds in the candlelight. I found the aroma sweet and seductive, luring me into an evening of relaxation and euphoria. The inhale was smooth, the exhale equally so. A visit to Full Moon Farms during fall harvest led to a discovery: Northern Berry is the farm’s house favorite flower, a union of two famous indica strains, Blueberry and Northern Lights #5. This sustainably sun-grown flower’s purple hues indicate its relaxing effects and echo its enticing aroma: the essence of fresh, sweet blueberries grounded by undertones of earthy hash spice. The top terpene in blueberry, caryophyllene, mainly found in sativa strains, may balance some users. Furthermore, Northern Berry is sticky and full of resin — great for pressing fruity rosin. Sharing a joint of this berry delicious indica power plant relaxed muscles after a long drive, and the resultant munchies led us to devour a healthy meal.
